AP Honda has become an official partner of English clubs Manchester United and Liverpool
AP Honda president Chiaki Kato poses with Manchester United players at Old Trafford after the firm signed a contract to be a partner of the club.
AP Honda president Chiaki Kato signed three-year contracts with the Premier League sides in England recently.
The deals, which begin next season, are part of the celebrations of the motorcycle firm’s 25th anniversary.
“It is an honour to be a partner of the legendary clubs,” said Kato.
“They are the most popular football clubs in Thailand. It is estimated that 70 per cent of fans of English football in Thailand support either club.”
With the partnership, AP Honda plans to launch several activities for fans here, he said.
“There will be a lot of fun,” Kato said.
United manager Alex Ferguson said: “We are delighted to be a partner of Honda. I am glad to know that there are a large number of United fans in Thailand.”
Representing Liverpool, former Reds striker Ian Rush said: “I have been to Thailand on several occasions. I like the country and the Thai people. I am delighted that Honda has become a Liverpool partner.”
